Custom ClearPass Guest Skins

A ClearPass guest skin is a visual theme applied to HPE Aruba ClearPass guest and operator portal. This is basically the pages your users see when connecting to a guest Wi-Fi network.

It controls the layout, colors, fonts, logos, and imagery displayed during captive portal flows, self-registration, sponsor approval, and credential delivery. Skins are packaged as plugins installed directly into ClearPass and can be scoped to specific portals or applied globally.

HPE Aruba's ClearPass Guest Skin Service (part number H30SYA1) is a conversion service. Aruba takes either a public website URL or a fully packaged responsive template you provide and converst it into a ClearPass skin plugin.

The service also includes a custom-branded email receipt template for credential delivery. It does not include custom design, coding, or the creation of that template from scratch. The service expires six months from purchase if unused.

If you don't have a suitable website, or your existing site isn't structured for a portal workflow, you'll need a custom template built before Aruba can complete the skin conversion.

That template development is outside the scope of Aruba's service, which is why organizations come to us first.

The guest portal is the functional system, the ClearPass application that handles network access workflows like self-registration, sponsor approval, and credential delivery. The skin is purely the visual layer on top of it: the branding, layout, and styling that determines what users see.

You configure the portal's behavior in ClearPass Policy Manager; you apply a skin to control how it looks. Aruba's skin service and our template development work are focused on the visual layer.

The timeline depends on the scope of the engagement. Primarily, how much design work is needed and how quickly branding assets and feedback are provided. A straightforward project with established brand guidelines and prompt stakeholder review typically completes in two to four weeks. Projects requiring more extensive design iteration, multiple portal variants, or assets that need to be created from scratch will take longer. We scope each engagement individually and provide a clear timeline before work begins.

No. HPE Aruba ClearPass guest policy configuration is outside the scope of the skin service. The skin service covers visual customization only.

Policy configuration (access rules, authentication workflows, VLAN assignments, and so on) is handled separately, either by your internal team or an HPE Aruba professional services engagement. Our work is similarly scoped to template development and branding, but we're happy to assist with that aspect of the project when applicable.
