MRAD vs MOA

The choice between MRAD and MOA relates to two different standard units of angular measurement used for scope reticles and turrets.

• MRAD (Mil or Milliradian) is defined as a thousandth of a radian, making 1 Mil a standardized fraction of measurement regardless of distance (e.g., 1/1000 of any distance).
• MOA (Minute of Angle) is an angular measurement where there are 360 degrees in a full circle, leading to 21,600 MOA in total.
• Optics using the same unit (e.g., Mil/Mil or MOA/MOA) function identically, simplifying setup.
• Adjustments for MOA scopes commonly use 1/4 MOA turrets, while MRAD scopes typically use 0.1 MRAD adjustments.
