Is your handgun safe secure?
June 4, 2014
TL;DR
A review of handgun safe security flaws suggests that many commercially available and inexpensive safes are not as secure as assumed.
- The report outlines general security flaws in many safes, particularly those categorized as inexpensive or "cheep" models.
- Multiple brands, including Stack-On, were highlighted, indicating that many market safes share similar security vulnerabilities.
- Consumers should perform thorough homework before purchasing, as many of these flawed safes remain available for purchase online.
- For superior security, the content suggests looking into alternative options, such as dedicated, higher-grade pistol boxes.
Is your handgun safe as secure as you think it is? You may want to think again... This report from 2012 outlines some of the major security flaws in many of the safes on the market today. The video mostly focuses on Stack-On brand safes, but many other safes fall into the same "cheep" category... so be aware!
Also, many of the safes outlined in the video are still available for sale from places like Amazon, so definitely do your homework before you by a cheep safe!

I've had good luck purchasing safes from Dean Safe Co out of California. They have good prices and reasonable shipping (for items that are as heavy as safes).
